Technician IV

Position Description

Calibrates, sets-up and uses sophisticated and or specialized measurement and test equipment.  Measures and records and analyzes data and prepares recommendations.  Writes reports and communicates results.  Trains other technicians in area and coordinates work.

Job Responsibilities

1. Performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, including various engineering tests using sophisticated and/or specialized measurement devices and test equipment; conduct tests or experiments requiring selection, adaptation or modifications of material, equipment or procedures
2. Designs and develops new prototype components and/or assemblies for product testing; works with vendors to obtain quotes for equipment
3. Documents all aspects of tests including objectives, procedures, results, conclusions and recommendations
4. Compiles and computes a variety of engineering data; analyzes test and design data and prepares reports
5. Analyzes complex problems and recommends solutions; expedites prototype parts or assemblies
6. Develops, prepares and makes recommendations for schematics, designs, test procedures and/or specifications
7. Coordinates work of lower level technicians
8. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

• Ability to set-up, calibrate and use sophisticated and or specialized measurement devices and test equipment
• Expertise in a specialized technical area; ability to train others in that area
• Demonstrated ability to use complex engineering software
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interpret data and write technical reports
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Experience Requirements

Seven years of experience working with small/large engines, engine powered equipment or industry related products
