Supply Chain Analyst

Position Description

Performs liaison activities between areas of manufacturing, production or distribution for the purpose of ensuring efficient and timely scheduling of materials and commitments. Oversees data management of requested material and maintaining inventory levels to satisfy customer demand, avoid backorders and maintain fill rate objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintains inventory turns, fill rates, backorder dollar objectives and resolves supplier issues
  2. Creates purchase orders (POs) and follows up with suppliers to ensure they are received on time
  3. Manages effective dates of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to ensure that all inventories are used prior to converting Bill of Materials (BOMs)
  4. Recognizes and manages external supply issues, including international holidays, transportation bottlenecks, etc.
  5. Analyzes quotations using broad purchasing principles, concepts and practices for cost/price and total value analysis to select, recommend or develop alternative suppliers
  6. Trains suppliers to understand ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) and AVS (Automatic Vendor Scheduling) to improve delivery
  7. Applies negotiation skills to resolve vendor disputes with an acceptable outcome and decides appropriate resolution to problems that may arise during the strategic sourcing contracting processes
  8. Develops and maintains awareness of changing commodity-related business trends in the marketplace and the possible impact to the business
  9. Conducts market and material studies; researches and evaluates benefits of contract or open-market purchases and/or benefits of outsourcing
  10. Monitors and tracks vendor performance through periodic financial reviews, product performance, customer satisfaction surveys, and customer feedback
  11. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing and supply strategies, purchasing function concepts and supplier commodity processes and practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations and interactions with diverse groups of people inside and outside of the corporation
  • Proficient computer skills including familiarity with SAP, Access, Google, and MS Office applications
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to see a wide range of detailed work through completion
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, inventory, and quality procedures and management programs and systems
  • Ability to read and/or interpret blueprints and/or complex engineering drawings
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience in purchasing or related field in a manufacturing environment
