As a Supplier Quality Engineer your goal is to be responsible for the quality of purchased items including new products, new processes and current system changes to regulatory requirements. You’ll participate in supplier development activities and interact with suppliers to implement corrective actions, improve control plans and eliminate defects. Additionally, you’ll provide analysis of data for informing and/or problem solving.

 

You will do this by:

  • Implementing quality system procedures and recommending improvements, interacting with team members to achieve daily and long term goals; ensuring procedures are followed
  • Developing quality initiatives to attain and maintain customer satisfaction and focus
  • Supporting the suppliers on quality activities such as Control Plan, FMEA (failure mode & effects analysis), Process Capability Study, MSA (measurement system analysis), and Checklist, etc.
  • Providing technical expertise to purchasing function
  • Serving as liaison between the supplier and Briggs and Stratton in quality activities which may include presenting quality trend data for the purpose of informing and problem solving, working with the suppliers on corrective action reports and verifying its effectiveness
  • Participating in supplier development activities and interactions with suppliers, implementing corrective actions & improving control plans
  • Preparing and providing data analysis of finished product and consumer complaint issues and recommending implementation of corrective and preventative actions for supplier improvement and elimination of defects; following-up on process improvements as needed
  • Performing supplier PPAP (production part approval process) and obtaining project team approval
  • Completing Suppliers’ Process Audit and Key Product Audit according to the plan, and following up with the improvement plan

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field OR equivalent education and experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in quality or engineering field
  • Fundamental quality experience in machining or assembly type operations

 

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of quality practices and procedures including Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO/QS requirements.
  • Working knowledge of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control Plans, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, MSA, Design of Experiments etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances as well as blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of mechanical, or electronics, or assembly manufacturing process with solid troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to learn how to prepare and interpret technical information
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, ability to solve practical problems and quality issues/problems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, including spreadsheet software
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
