Position Description

The Software Engineer III performs a variety of complex engineering duties to design, plan, and oversee the architecture, design, development, process, and management of software systems applied to new or existing products. Evaluates progress and results of projects. Recommends changes in design, procedures or objectives as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages control system software for integrated  power systems at the discrete level while developing and adapting requirements
  • Uses a variety of programming tools and languages to create embedded control software
  • Deploys control algorithms to embedded controllers (rapid prototyping and production ECU) from general project inputs without defined functional requirements.
  • Creates complex software requirements, specifications and validation plans
  • Schedules and drives software code review sessions both internal to the company and with external sources
  • Develops software engineering test standards
  • Develops complex system architectures across multiple product lines that enable cohesive integration, component maintainability, and reuse.
  • Maintains the software portfolio and software lifecycle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Professional experience in object-oriented design and analysis using a variety of programming languages.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate standards. 
  • Professional experience with Software version management tools including such as Subversion and Git
  • Experience using an integrated development environment (IDE)
  • Ability to effectively use static analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to adapt and learn new techniques, methods and programming languages.
  • Professional experience with software version management tools including such as Subversion and Git.

  • Demonstrated ability and desire to adapt and learn new techniques, methods, and programming languages.
  • Strong communication skills to explain designs and logic used.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.

Desired Job Skills (not required)

  • IAR Workbench w/C-STAT static analysis
  • Model based design utilizing MATLAB/Simulink and or dspace
  • Assembly language experience
  • Experience adapting style guides to programming work
  • CERT-C Secure Coding experience
  • Functional safety experience

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related field

Experience Requirements

  • Five years of professional engineering experience.
  • Three years of experience developing control algorithms for mechanical or electrical systems
  • Three years of experience with data analysis, model development and/or software development
