Position Description

Leads the budgeting and forecasting function for a specific business unit by establishing and documenting procedures and timelines for completion of the annual operating budget, quarterly operating forecasts and capital spending plans. Partners with business unit management team in developing and executing strategic plan.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develops and drives an effective and efficient planning process to guide the business unit in the formulation, review and communication of operating plans and projections; coordinates the budget/forecast and performs analysis to determine the validity and accuracy of the forecasts submitted by the business unit; coordinates the preparation of the annual budget review meetings.
  2. Leads the preparation and update of the business unit’s long-range strategic financial plan.
  3. Measures business performance against strategies and goals; routinely analyzes and reports performance utilizing trend analysis and experience data; proactively recommends and advises the business based on trend analysis. Leads business analyses to develop business strategies and tactics. Develops timely tools and metrics to enable management to make informed business decisions and take action.
  4. Understands and internally promotes the relationship of accurate financial planning to our overall financial and Economic Value Added (EVA) results.
  5. Develops and uses analytical tools to monitor and lead improvements in forecasting accuracy. Analyzes actual to budget trends in financial statements and key company drivers and trends on a monthly basis, including the isolation of factors contributing to negative and positive trends, in order to revise forecast processes and improve forecast accuracy.  Proactively recommends mitigating actions to help achieve planned business results.
  6. Reports the team’s work to senior management and manages employee performance and professional development.
  7. Develops reporting using a variety of database sources within and outside of the Company.
  8. Analyzes the impact of pricing, volume, mix and foreign currency on sales and gross margins.
  9. Forms key relationships with sales, accounting and operations personnel.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with all groups in the business unit on setting expectations and monitoring progress; must be able to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers and superiors within the organization
  • Ability to exercise foresight and proactiveness when advising the business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with a diverse group of people
  • Strong computer literacy, especially experience with financial software systems
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience
  • Prior financial analysis experience preferred
