Position Description
Focuses on specific sourcing projects to ensure that products cost, quality, and lead time will meet company sourcing strategy. Leads sourcing and purchasing projects to ensure regional objectives are achieved.
Job Responsibilities
- Negotiates price and agreement of supply contracts and aftermarket parts.
- Recommends cost reduction opportunities for aftermarket parts.
- Develops a network of service only suppliers that can support the lower volumes and minimum order quantities via flexible production methods.
- Leads cross-functional teams including external suppliers to minimize supply chain risk.
- Communicates requirements, practices and processes to service only suppliers.
- Manage end of product life supply decisions.
- Develops and monitors project schedules and ensures projects meet deadlines.
- Communicate with internal customers regarding program progress.
- Ensures project targets and goals are clearly defined and delivered on time and on budget.
- Highlights areas needing resolution and drives solutions.
- Prepares and presents information and presentations for management project review.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Requirements
- Thorough understanding of hot to select and build appropriate supply strategies based on operational needs including outsourcing activities.
- Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.
- Ability to recommend engineering changes to enhance aftermarket offerings.
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers on cost reductions and timing.
- Ability to prepare and present complex technical information.
- Working understanding of financial principles including Return On Investment (ROI) concepts.
- Strong Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and negotiate effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to form, work with and lead a team of diverse individuals in a variety of fields.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Knowledge of SAP preferred.
Education
Experience Requirements
Typically requires a minimum of five years of experience in sourcing and supplier development.
