Position Description

Leads the performance of moderately complex financial, compliance, information technology, and operational audits across all departments, divisions, and locations of Briggs & Stratton. Assists in leading components of the annual and quarterly Sarbanes Oxley (section 404) compliance testing program.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Leads and/or performs annual and quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing for assigned domestic and international entities.
  2. Leads moderately complex financial,compliance, information technology, and operational  audits through effective project management methodologies
  3. Reviews, verifies, and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls
  4. Acquires an in-depth understanding of applicable policies, procedures, systems and regulations to sufficiently evaluate the internal control structure.
  5. Performs work guided by the professional auditing standards set forth by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
  6. Assists external auditors with respect to Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
  7. Works cohesively and effectively within diverse teams.
  8. Communicates audit conclusions and recommendations to management on a pro-active basis.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Knowledge of US GAAP and the professional auditing standards set forth by the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
  • Ability to independently organize and execute work; ability to take ownership in completing assigned tasks; self-motivated with desire to grow and seek challenges
  • Strong orientation to accuracy and detail
  • Strong ability to conduct organizational / data analysis around processes, systems, risks, controls, and strategies
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people
  • Appreciates the importance of adding organizational value
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

Three years of related experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Domestic and/or international travel as required up to 20%
