Industrial Designer Senior

Position Description

Creates a variety of complex functional and appealing product designs using a combination of artistic talent with research on product use, marketing and materials.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provides design expertise and leadership while collaborating with engineering, marketing, production, or sales departments, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products
2. Modifies and refines designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends
3. Coordinates the fabrication of models or samples
4. Recommends design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics
5. Presents designs and reports to customers or design committees for approval, and discuss need for modification
6. Investigates product characteristics such as the product’s safety and handling qualities, its market appeal, how efficiently it can be produced, and ways of distributing, using and maintaining it
7. Researches production materials and manufacturing methods  
8. Leads and researches end user potential need for new products
9. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawing and models
• Must be able to enthusiastically assert ideas, be highly creative and able to “think out of the box”
• Possesses a working knowledge of the company’s products’ purpose
• Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; including application of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
• Extensive knowledge of various computer aided design software, desktop publishing software, video creation and editing software
• Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in Industrial Design or related field
