Position Description
Directs the global sourcing of direct and/or indirect materials and services for the company. Establishes Sourcing and Supplier segmentation strategy for the company to achieve a competitive advantage from the supply base in cost, quality, delivery and innovation.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops strategies across thousands of suppliers and millions of manufacturing Bill of Material components while working with purchasing teams to leverage spend
- Leads development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to improve sourcing, purchasing and and contract manufacturing processes
- Serves as lead negotiator for the company and identifies, qualifies and selects suppliers. Implements lean supply chains and identifies low cost country sourcing opportunities. Maintains global standard operating procedures for the Sourcing and Purchasing functions.
- Oversees supplier audits to assess financial wellness, social responsibility, trade compliance and quality processes to meet international standards
- Prepares annual budgets and provides guidance for key commodities and annual purchase price variance and cost reduction forecasts
- Interacts regularly with the CFO, Division Presidents and top executives at major suppliers
- Supports continuous improvement and lean six sigma projects to maintain capable sourcing, purchasing and contract manufacturing processes
- Supports supplier development and ensures all suppliers implement the company’s supplier quality system
- Provides analysis and recommendations for low cost country suppliers to include a comprehensive assessment of economic trends, risks and opportunities
- Directs the work of groups of employees (leads through managers and other professionals)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Sourcing, Purchasing, Commodity Management, negotiation strategies and techniques, supplier quality and supplier relationship development
- Proven leadership and motivational skills
- Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions; ability to adapt to different cultures and effectively lead teams in different continents
- Execute decisions and actions after consideration of both Company and Business Unit objectives; ability to make confident, fact-based decisions balancing risk
- Ability to work well in high pressure situations in order to meet deadlines
- Expertise in delivering change programs to switch suppliers to achieve lower cost, improved service while maintaining supply continuity
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations to senior executives to include CEO, CFO and Division Presidents
- Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
Education
Experience Requirements
- Twelve years experience in sourcing, purchasing or supply chain management
- Strong knowledge of China suppliers and supply chains and practical experience with low cost country sourcing strategies and execution, contract manufacturing and total cost of ownership models
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics as examples) and Word, Powerpoint, Excel
