Position Description
The goal of the Briggs & Stratton Student Program is to provide trained, qualified employees capable of contributing to Briggs & Stratton LLC in the future. Our program allows students to contribute to the success of the Company through their work assignments and provides students with a real-world work experience where knowledge learned in the classroom can be applied immediately to their work. PLEASE NOTE: You MUST be enrolled in an accredited technical school studying toward an associate degree in mechanical design or mechanical engineering to qualify for this internship.
*Internship is full time (40 hours a week) during summer 2023 and then part time (~20 hours a week) during the 2023-2024 school year. You must be available to meet that time commitment.
Job Responsibilities

Under supervision, performs simple, routine, and repetitive designs using standard procedures, tools, materials, machines, equipment and software

During the summer term, students will learn PTC Creo and work on small projects, engineering changes, learn the Briggs & Stratton engine systems and shadow an engineer and senior designer

During the fall and spring terms, students will work on more complicated designs/drawings and will assist on projects on a part-time basis

Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to deal with diverse groups of people

Must have the ability and willingness to follow directions

Must have the ability to work in a team environment

Must have strong initiative to seek work and learn new concepts and ideas

Must be well organized

Must have good mechanical aptitude - an interest in design and/or engines is a plus

An interest in tool design is a plus
Education
Experience Requirements

You MUST be enrolled in an accredited technical school studying toward an associate degree in mechanical design or mechanical engineering to qualify for this internship.

Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5/4.0
