Data Scientist Intern - Summer 2022

Position Description

Provides support for solving data-centric problems including data extraction, cleaning, preparation, analysis, visualization, presentation, and documentation. Exposed to various business challenges that require processing raw data into actionable insights. Expands and enhances knowledge and experience with all aspects of data science including working with a diverse range of datasets, preparing data for analysis, setting up data pipelines, programming data analysis solutions, and communicating the results effectively.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Participates in the analysis and validation of data sets/solutions/user experience.
  2. Contributes to building models for the overall solution, validates results and performance. 
  3. Contributes to the selection of the model that supports the overall solution.
  4. Supports the research, identification and delivery of data science solutions to problems along with leading the improvement projects to transform the solutions into tangible results for the business.
  5. Supports visualization and reporting of the model's insights.
  6. Adopt best practices related to data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Skills Requirements

  • Basic understanding of business requirements and data science objectives.
  • Basic understanding of analytics software and relevant programming languages.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization and communication techniques.
  • The ideal candidate is a strong data scientist who thinks outside the box, is naturally curious, highly collaborative, and has a passion for tackling complex data-centric problems
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
  • Optional: classroom experience with sensor measurement and analysis, understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, ETL functions, basic familiarity with text mining/machine learning.
     

Education

Associates Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Related field

Experience Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying toward a Bachelors/Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field of study.
  • Must complete the sophomore year in the major program of study prior to beginning a co-op or internship
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0
  • Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following is helpful: SQL, R, Java, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and other data & visualization tools, Statistic & Probability
  • This is an entry-level position therefore previous experience is not required
