Position Description
Directs, plans, and guides the work of multiple engineering groups within the assigned business unit. Provides technical leadership guidance. Participates in strategic planning and subsequent allocation of work and engineering resources.
Job Responsibilities

Participates in strategic and long-term planning for assigned business unit's engineering department
-
Defines and recommends objectives in each area of Engineering Design. Develops specific and strategic short-and long-term plans and programs that align with overall business objectives, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates; ensures that budgeted timelines and financial goals are achieved and product cost objectives are met

Develops engineering metrics to review results, comparing them with established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company

Leads engineering team through technical problem solving for new product innovation and/or development projects

Interacts regularly with executives and major customers

Directs the work of groups of employees (leads through managers)

Mentors engineering staff and develop a strategy to provide continuous development and training opportunities

Performs other duties as assigned

Education
Experience Requirements

Minimum 10 years experience in engineering or related field

5 years leadership or management experience preferred
