Welder I - Day Shift

Briggs & Stratton / Billy Goat, located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, is a leading and innovative manufacturer of outdoor power equipment. We specialize in the design and manufacture of machines in three product groups: Debris Management (vacuums, blowers, and debris loaders), Lawn Renovation, and Brush Cutters. We have an immediate opening for a full time Welder I to support our manufacturing operations.

Work Hours: 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday – Thursday. Overtime is required at various times during the year, usually on Friday.  Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Position Description

Performs a variety of basic welding in all positions to ensure components are being welded to engineered specifications.

Job Responsibilities

Operates robot weld machine to weld metal parts together. 

Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products using various weld fixtures.

Evaluates and inspects finished parts for quality and accuracy.

Make fixture changes when necessary.

Performs related tasks such as drilling, roll forming, plasma cutting and grinding.  Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.

Completes all work to required print specifications and BGI quality standards.

Ability to read and interpret blue prints and job orders, and to perform first piece inspections of welded parts according to blue print specifications.

Maintains work area according to 5S standards and completes all required paperwork correctly.

Demonstrates flexibility in performing other duties or tasks assigned by management or supervisor and maintains punctual/regular attendance.
 

Job Skills Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic blueprint reading preferred.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

High School diploma

Experience Requirements

Previous experince preferred

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Moderate physical demand; often lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials (up to 70 lbs)
Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.
