Briggs & Stratton / Billy Goat, located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, is a leading and innovative manufacturer of outdoor power equipment. We specialize in the design and manufacture of machines in three product groups: Debris Management (vacuums, blowers, and debris loaders), Lawn Renovation, and Brush Cutters. We have an immediate opening for a Manager of Production Planning to lead our production planning efforts and support our operations.
Position Description
Executes the strategy to manage supplier capacity and fulfillment to match the demand forecast for all locations within a business unit. Manages component inventory for a business unit by translating finished good demand into part level demand.
Job Responsibilities

Plans and establishes long-range production control goals and objectives

Manages short and long range schedule planning, machine loading, material requirements, raw materials management and procurement to obtain maximum utilization of labor, tools and equipment for all locations in a business unit

Participates in new product development initiatives in order to build requirements into long term production control strategies

Maintains relationships between manufacturing,strategic sourcing, purchasing, engineering, finance and sales departments to keep them informed as to schedules, needs and order status for all locations in a business unit

Prepares production analysis charts, job and machine load forecasts, labor forecasts and project completion reports across a business unit

Develops recommendations for production control system enhancements and Engineering Change Order effectiveness

Leads teams across multiple functions and locations to execute production control objectives, including: new model introductions, cycle counting and manage obsolete inventory

Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget

Job Skills Requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, purchasing and inventory control systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including dotted-line reports in multiple locations.

Analytical skills, including the creation, interpretation of reports and ability to use data to solve problems.

Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning software and office productivity such as spreadsheet and word processing.

Advanced problem solving skills to respond to manufacturing process and system problems.

Fluent in English and the primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.
Education
Experience Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of seven years experience managing a multi-site production control operation or related field.
- Typically requires a minimum of three years management experience, experience with dotted-line/matrix preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of three years of inventory management experience preferably focused on cycle counting.
