Briggs & Stratton / Billy Goat, located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, is a leading and innovative manufacturer of outdoor power equipment. We specialize in designing and manufacturing machines in three product groups: Debris Management (vacuums, blowers, and debris loaders), Lawn Renovation, and Brush Cutters.  We have an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician B to support our production operations.

 

The person must be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Have the ability to troubleshoot, dismantle machines or equipment, replaces defective parts.
  • Clean and lubricate machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears and bearings. 
  • Must know how to replace or repair machine belts and remove dust, dirt, grease and waste materials from machines. 
  • Should also know how to paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
  • Connect wires to motors, fixtures and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
  • Should know how to do bends, cuts, and  to tread pipes, cut openings in walls, ceilings and floors for pipes, and seals pupe joints with sealing compound. 
  • Cut out and joins parts for work tables, benches, shelves and other furnishings.
  • Know how to patch or replace sheetrock or plasterboard and paint walls, celings and trim of building. 
  • Operates hand tools such as grinders, drills, saws, etc.
  • Assists Maintenance Supervisor or maintenance person with repairs, materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Clean the work area, tools and equipment.
  • Perform other routine duties.
  • Performs janitorial duties as required. 

 

Work Hours: 3:30 p.m. – 2 a.m., Monday – Thursday. Overtime is required at various times during the year.  The starting rate of pay depends on experience, and review in 90 days.  Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Position Description

Uses technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair plant equipment, building and grounds.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs a wide variety of maintenance work to maintain structures, electrical systems, heating systems, plumbing, machine repair, electrical systems, hydraulics systems for a variety of equipment
  2. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment
  3. Performs preventative maintenance
  4. Performs various machining or bench operations to alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges requiring skill and a basic knowledge of tooling practices and applications
  5. Performs other duties as assigned

  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills using mechanical, electrical, hydraulic knowledge

  • Basic computer skills
  • Perform sustained concentration; follow through on instructions and decision making skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

High School diploma
General Education Degree

Experience Requirements

  • 1.5 years of technical experience using mechanical, electrical and hydraulic skills

Physical & Environmental Requirements

May be required to lift or carry products, parts, and/or other materials of various sizes and weights. (Frequently 5 – 25 pounds), (Occasionally 25 – 75 pounds), (Rarely greater than 75 pounds)
Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Ability to use power/vibrating tools over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
Exposure to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
