Position Description

Provides human resources partnership and support to the Lee's Summit operations team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Employee Experience: Partners with leadership, managers, and supervisors to create a safe, high performing, and enjoyable work environment. 
    • Conducts internal investigations in response to employee concerns 
    • Provides proactive resolution of employee concerns with the goal of future problem prevention
    • Works with supervisors to develop performance improvement plans where needed 
    • Drives effective communication to enhance employee understanding of challenges as well as to help all connect with business vision and objectives 
    • Facilitates service awards and other employee event planning 
  • Recruiting: Drives efforts to hire and retain great employees. Partners with staffing agencies as needed.
  • Training: Manages the new employee orientation and safety training material and processes. Partners with supervisors to define development plans for employees. 
  • Leadership Development: Provides for training and development opportunities through coaching or other media to enable strong leadership 
  • Benefits / Workers Comp / FMLA: Acts as a resource to employees needing support while working with 3rd party administrators 
  • Compensation: Researches regional wage rates and recommends market adjustments as needed. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment 
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include leading projects of varying scale or scope

Job Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of human resources functions and a specific function within HR 
  • Strong organization and time management/project management skills necessary to prioritize and manage multiple, complex projects, potentially with conflicting priorities; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information 
  • Good communication skills to facilitate work with diverse groups of employees 
  • Demonstrated skills in employee relations with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and use sound judgment in decision making 
  • Solid computer skills 
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location


Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum three years related professional, progressive experience in human resources setting
  • HR certification through SHRM or HRCI preferred 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work into late evening hours (up to 7pm) as needed
