Vehicle Controls Engineer II

Job Responsibilities

  1. Interact with other teams to develop controls requirements

  2. Define and develop system-level control architecture for ICE, BEV, HEV, and PHEV vehicles to meet product functional requirements.

  3. Develops and implements control software to work with electrical/electronic assemblies and systems using MATLAB/Simulink and C programming. 

  4. Design control system to meet functional, regulatory, safety, and functional safety (ISO 26262) requirements

  5. Confirms system and component capabilities by designing and executing testing methods

  6. Full production release responsibility for the control software and calibrations

  7. Support tools development, software configuration management, and version control.

  8. Troubleshoot vehicle/powertrain functional issues; determine and validate corrective actions and preventive measures

  9. Support training of calibration and application engineers.

  10. Adheres to new product development processes as it relates to Concept Analysis, Business Case, product development, pre-productions, and post-launch steps. 

  11. Develops engineering test standards where applicable. 

 

Job Skills Requirements

  • Requirements gathering

  • Strong experience with object-oriented programming methodologies, especially design patterns and data structures

  • Experience integrating control code, especially a motor driver, and feedback sensors.

  • Experience designing and debugging CAN communication systems

  • Broad knowledge and use of microprocessor controllers, electrical/electronic control circuits and systems. 

  • Knowledge of appropriate standards and regulations. 

  • Knowledge of powertrain controls development

  • Well-developed communication skills to explain designs and logic used. 

  • Fluent in English and the primary language used in the area of responsibility and/or location. 

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related field

Experience Requirements

Three years of professional engineering experience
