Position Description

Participates in and is exposed to projects in a variety of functional areas within Engineering. Expands and enhances basic knowledge in conjunction with academic subjects of study. Interacts with supervisors, team members, project leaders and other business functions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Supports Engineering teams by performing basic and repetitive assignments of a technical nature
  2. Participates in a variety of  assignments within Engineering
  3. Performs specific and limited portions of less complex assignments for higher-level staff
  4. Under supervision of higher-level staff, design and implement new software modules/components for the production environment
  5. Under supervision of higher-level staff, design and implement unit tests for new and existing software modules/components
  6. Participate in code reviews and design discussions
  7. Performs other duties as assigned

Associates Degree
Bachelor's Degree in Related field

Experience Requirements

  • Comfort programming in C, C++, and/or Python
  • Experience with M0/M4 ARM microcontrollers, specifically STM32 
  • Experience with MCU peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, DMA
  • Knowledge of preempting embedded real-time operating systems, specifically FreeRTOS 
  • Experience developing/debugging within an IDE such as IAR Embedded Workbench (EWARM) and/or Eclipse
  • Experience with unit testing and xUnit frameworks such as Catch2, GoogleTest, and/or CppTest
  • Experience with source control such as git, SVN, and/or Mercurial
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and BitBucket
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time engineering student in an accredited college or university studying toward a Bachelor's degree in Engineering  
  • Must complete the sophomore year in the major program of study
  • Must be able to work full-time during scheduled semesters
  • Must be able to commit to completing 3-4 terms of full-time work alternating with school semesters
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0
  • This is an entry-level position therefore previous experience is not required
  • Hands-on work experience in specified function is helpful
