Position Description

Product development engineer responsible for noise and vibration (NVH) testing and analysis to support the product development of smoother, quieter, and more reliable products.  In addition, this position includes accelerated testing using electro-dynamic shakers and hydraulic fatigue test equipment to simulate real world usage of components and systems.  This position includes the development of advanced NVH test methods and analysis techniques to support the design of new engines and products.  This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work in a state of the art NVH facility at Briggs & Stratton. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Execute moderately complex NVH and accelerated durability tests including planning, instrumentation, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
  2. Support the design and development of new NVH solutions for engines and products.
  3. Applies computer-aided engineering simulation techniques to solve NVH problems.
  4. Develop and implement new procedures related to noise, vibration, and component durability testing.
  5. Responsible for maintenance and calibration of test equipment.
  6. Modify analysis techniques when necessary to solve more complex problems.
  7. Evaluate engine, product or component failure using advanced engineering techniques.
  8. Compile and analyze NVH and durability test results, formulate conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  9. Support the design and development of new NVH solutions for engines and products.

Job Skills Requirements

  • Knowledge in NVH and durability engineering concepts, practices, and procedures and other internal engineering standards and systems
  • Working knowledge of company and competitor’s products and technical abilities of suppliers
  • Understanding of company processes and procedures including, but not limited to new product development process
  • Excellent interpersonal skills  
  • Strong written communication skills necessary for technical report writing
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
  • Knowledge of noise and vibration concepts and test/analysis methods

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related field

Experience Requirements

  • Three years of professional engineering experience
  • Previous NVH and/or accelerated durability test experience is preferred but not required

Physical & Environmental Requirements

May require travel of a scheduled or urgent nature to review applications, discuss problems, visit suppliers / customers, trade shows, etc.
