Position Description


Manages the preparation and filing of one or more of the Federal, International, State and Local tax returns to minimize corporate liability and to ensure compliance. Assists in corporate tax provision planning efforts and helps provide guidance in relation to all tax issues.  Provides consultation and advises management of the consequences of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations,court decisions and/or consummated transactions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manages the planning, preparation, and filing of one or more of the state, federal and international tax returns; including local income/franchise tax, sales/use tax returns, property tax returns and their related payments.

  2. Manages and supports tax audits and administrative appeals.

  3. Calculates financial income tax provisions and interfaces with the accounting department.

  4. Responds to inquiries from operating personnel in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

  5. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of both existing and proposed tax laws, regulations and court decisions as well as their application to proposed and consummated transactions.

  6. Executes tax strategy and works with the business to analyze data and make recommendations. 

  7. Participates in and manages the tax department’s deferred tax accounting calculations and tax provision proofs.

  8. Ensures compliance with the tax function’s internal control processes.

  9. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget

  10. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge in one or more areas of tax including: income taxes,, corporate state and local tax laws and regulations, , corporate international tax laws and regulations, accounting ramifications, as well as accounting for income taxes.

  • Strong accounting and administrative skills with demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve complex tax issues.

  • Must be able to exercise sound independent judgment with regards to the application of tax law to effectively minimize liabilities, risks, and exposures, including in supporting and consulting with the group/business unit and/or guiding and directing the work of the Tax team.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with and clearly present complex material and recommendations to diverse audiences.

  • Participate and/or manage other continuous improvement projects.

  • Solid analytical skills, decision making, and organization skills in relation to managing multiple, complex projects with tight deadlines.

  • Strong experience with tax preparation software.

  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years experience in tax or related field

  • Planning and administering tax affairs in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • International tax experience preferred

  • Previous management experience preferred

Physical & Environmental Requirements

May require travel of a planned or urgent nature, both international and domestic
