Position Description

Plans and guides the work of multiple engineering groups. Represents the unit to the public and senior management. Engages in strategic planning and subsequent allocation of work and engineering resources as it relates to the new product innovation and/or development.  Manages employee performance and professional development.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Participates in strategic and long-term planning for assigned engineering departments; develops goals and objectives that align to the strategy
  2. Leads development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for product innovation and/or development; evaluates progress of NPD projects
  3. Authorizes the spending of development initiatives to support the budget for assigned areas
  4. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company
  5. Leads engineering team through technical problem solving for new product innovation and/or development projects
  6. Interacts regularly with executives and major customers
  7. Directs the work of groups of employees (leads through managers)
  8. Performs other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10  years experience in engineering or related field
  • 5 years leadership or management experience preferred
