Engineering Development Team - Intern

Role: Intern

Position Description

  • Support the Commercial Product Development Engineering Group in the design, testing, and development of commercial mower products. 
  • Will expand and enhance their basic knowledge of mechanical systems, such as: power transmission design, vehicle suspension design.
  • Will enhance their understanding in design for manufacturing, design for assembly, cost analysis, and various simulation studies including FEA and CFD.
  • Will grow their capabilities in 3D Virtual Modeling, utilizing Solidworks 3D CAD system.
  • Will be exposed to an array of project aspects by participating in a cross-function team environment; including exposure to manufacturing and assembly methods.
  • Will interact daily with a variety of supervisors, team members, project leaders and other business functions.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Support engineering development team members by performing engineering calculations, creating 3D CAD Models of parts and assemblies, performing simulation studies, setting up and monitoring engineering lab tests, and a variety of other basic and repetitive assignments.
  2. Perform specific and limited portions of less complex assignments for higher-level staff.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Skills Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of computer software; including Solidworks 3D CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and other engineering software platforms.
  • Candidates should have a long-term interest in the Mechanical or Electro-mechanical Engineering career field.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Possess poise and the ability to interact with people in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and analysis skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

 

Education

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying toward a Bachelor/Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Science, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must complete the sophomore year in the major program of study prior to beginning a co-op
  • Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0

 

Experience Requirements

  • This is an entry-level position therefore previous experience is not required
  • Hands-on work experience in specified function is helpful
